3 Days Sahara Desert Trip from Marrakech

Exploring the Sahara Desert from Marrakech with Kids

Embarking on an expedition into the Sahara Desert from Marrakech with little adventurers in tow promises a treasure trove of unforgettable experiences. Over three days, we’ll traverse the mesmerizing landscapes of southern Morocco, immersing ourselves in the wonders of the desert while creating lasting memories as a family.

Day 1: Marrakech to Dades Gorges

Our journey begins with a scenic drive from Marrakech towards the majestic Dades Gorges. As we wind through the Atlas Mountains, the kids are captivated by the rugged beauty of the terrain, with each twist and turn offering a new glimpse into Morocco’s natural wonders.

Upon reaching the Dades Gorges, we’re greeted by towering rock formations and lush green valleys, a stark contrast to the desert landscape that awaits us. After settling into our accommodations at a cozy guesthouse nestled amidst the gorges, we set out to explore our surroundings.

The kids are eager to stretch their legs, and we embark on a leisurely hike through the gorges, marveling at the sheer cliffs and cascading waterfalls that dot the landscape. Along the way, we encounter local Berber villages, where friendly faces and warm hospitality welcome us with open arms.

Day 2: Dades Gorges to Erg Chebbi

As the sun rises over the horizon, we bid farewell to the Dades Gorges and set our sights on the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. The kids are buzzing with excitement as we journey deeper into the desert, passing through picturesque oases and quaint desert towns along the way.

Arriving at Erg Chebbi, the kids’ eyes light up at the sight of the towering sand dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see. After settling into our desert camp, we waste no time in embarking on a camel trek across the dunes.

As we ride through the desert landscape, the kids are filled with wonder, taking in the sights and sounds of this magical environment. We pause for a picnic lunch amidst the dunes, enjoying the simple pleasures of good food and great company against the backdrop of the desert sky.

As night falls, we gather around the campfire for a traditional Berber dinner, serenaded by the haunting melodies of local musicians. Under a canopy of stars, we share stories and laughter, cherishing this magical moment with our loved ones.

Day 3: Erg Chebbi to Marrakech

As our desert adventure draws to a close, we bid farewell to Erg Chebbi and begin our journey back to Marrakech. Along the way, we make stops at traditional villages and historic sites, offering the kids a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of southern Morocco.

Arriving back in Marrakech, we take one last stroll through the bustling streets of the medina, savoring the sights, sounds, and smells of this vibrant city. As we reflect on our desert journey, we’re filled with gratitude for the memories made and the bonds strengthened along the way.

Embarking on a 3 Days Sahara Desert Trip from Marrakech with kids is more than just a vacation – it’s a journey of discovery, adventure, and connection that will stay with us long after we return home.
